Aims of the PARTNERS Service

What is the PARTNERS Service?

LEAP member Deb, talking about the Care Partners

The PARTNERS Service aims to support people with a diagnosis of schizophrenia, bipolar or other forms of psychosis to improve their well-being, physical and mental health. It is being delivered in Birmingham and Solihull, East Lancashire, Plymouth and Cornwall.

The staff working in the service are called Care Partners and they are based in primary care surgeries.

The service will work with people as equal partners, using a coaching approach. This recognises that people with ongoing mental health needs are experts in managing their own health. They will link with people who can provide support, including healthcare professionals, families, or community services such as charities.

When it comes to setting goals... [my Care Partner] will come up with various strategies that might work, but will then leave it with me to choose the strategy that I think will work best.
