Welcome to our PARTNERS2 Research Study

We are very pleased to introduce our research to you. We have been working with mental health service users, carers and practitioners to develop a new mental health service based in GP surgeries, called the PARTNERS Service.

The new service is different because:

  • It places a specialist mental health worker within primary care settings to work with people with ongoing mental health needs
  • It focuses on delivering personalised care, using a coaching approach, valuing the expertise of both the service user and the practitioner
  • Goals are set collaboratively to cover a person's social, emotional and physical health needs

Lindsey, a Carer and LEAP member, talking about the PARTNERS Service

We are looking forward to finding out if the PARTNERS Service improves the care provided in GP surgeries for people with ongoing mental health needs. To do this, we need the help of over 300 people to take part in our research study.

This work has been funded by the Department of Health, National Institute for Health Research. The study sponsor is Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

I’m excited about the new approach of the PARTNERS service for people with ongoing mental health needs. By looking at different aspects of our lives and agreeing on mutually agreed goals, it seeks to help us in our recovery in ways a focus on medication alone does not.
